Adopt and Monitor a Local Stream
Volunteers get trained through Georgia Adopt-A-Stream to regularly test and monitor a nearby stream, river, or wetland, collecting data that helps protect the state's waterways. It is a self-directed, recurring role you can do close to home, which makes it great for a school project or a small crew. Training and equipment guidance are provided.

“Loved this one — the organizer had everything set up before we arrived and explained exactly what we'd be doing. It ran about 30 minutes long, which caught a few of us off guard, so plan for that. Would definitely come back.”
💡 Bring closed-toe shoes and a water bottle — it gets warm.
